The Beverly Hills Bar Association has been referring people to local and qualified attorneys since 1976. It manages a Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) that helps individuals and businesses find an attorney in Beverly Hills and the greater Los Angeles area.
Although the most popular lawyer referral services are managed by the county level bar associations, smaller bar associations like the Beverly Hills Bar Association also provide this important community based service. The BHBA LRIS is certified by the California State Bar for Los Angeles County. The BHBA LRIS is also recognized by the American Bar Association for meeting its standards.
When you contact the LRIS, a staff person will conduct the initial consultation to determine whether you need an attorney. If so, the staff person will help you determine the applicable legal practice area. The staff person will then refer you to a qualified attorney for a low-cost legal consultation.
More than 100 attorneys participate in the service and represent more than 35 different areas of law. The 30 minute consultation with the attorney requires a $25 fee. The attorneys that participate in the service have agreed to waive the fee if the case involves Personal Injury, Criminal Defense, Bankruptcy, or Workers' Compensation.
