Pima County Lawyer Referral Service

The Pima County Bar Association operates a Lawyer Referral Service ("LRS") in Tucson, Arizona, serving all of Pima County. Call the service during normal business hours from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday. The LRS helps the public find a local attorney with experience for a particular type of legal problem.

Each year, the LRS refers over 3,500 clients to LRS attorney panelists,

How Does the Lawyer Referral Service Work?

If you need to find an attorney in Tucson, Arizona, or in Pima County, then consider the benefits of using a LRS operated by the Pima County Bar Association. Each participating attorney is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Arizona and experienced in the area of law for which he or she receives referrals.

After you contact the service, a trained staff person will talk with you about the case and your needs. For a non-refundable fee of $35, the LRS Operator will provide you with the name and the contact information for a local attorney in the service.

You are free to then contact the attorney for a free 30-minute consultation. During the consultation, you can discuss the case with the attorney and the fees needed for additional representation. The attorney will inform you of their fee structure during the initial consultation and explicitly explain when the free consultation ends and any fee for service begins.

Requirements to Become a Member of the LRS Panel

To enroll as a member of the panel, the attorney must:

  • be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Arizona; 
  • have been actively engaged in the practice of law for at least one (1) year; 
  • for a selected SIMPLE subject panel areas, the attorney must have handled at least two (2) matters to completion;
  • for all selected EXPERIENCED subject panel areas, the attorney must meet additional specific requirements; 
  • carry a minimum of $100,000 in professional liability insurance coverage;
  • agree to abide by all of the LRS policies and indemnify and hold harmless the Pima County Bar Association (PCBA) from any and all claims, demands, actions, liability, or loss which may arise from, or be incurred through, any negligence or conduct that causes damage to a client referred by LRS.
