The State Bar of Montana is a mandatory bar governed by a 20-member Board of Trustees that the membership elects. The mission of this Board is to lead the legal profession and serve the public interest through proper guidance of the State Bar of Montana.

The Montana Trial Lawyers Association (MTLA) is a non-profit organization for attorneys in Montana who represent litigants to secure a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized. Many of the top personal injury attorneys in Montana belong to the organization.
