Lawyer Referral Service in Mecklenburg County

Established in 1912, the Mecklenburg County Bar manages a Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) from its offices in Charlotte, North Carolina. This community based non-profit service helps the public and local businesses find a qualified attorney for a variety of legal problems.

When the call the service, a trained staff person known as a LRS referral specialist will ask you a few confidential questions about your legal concerns. When appropriate the service will referral you to a qualified attorney after you pay a consultation fee of $50.

The consultation fee entitles you to a 30 minute consultation with an attorney. The $50 consultation fee is waived for personal injury cases, wrongful death, slip and fall, social security disability, bankruptcy, workers compensation, medical malpractice or dental malpractice.

During the consultation, you can ask the attorney questions about your case. You can also discuss with the attorney the fees for additional services that might be needed in your case. Neither the attorney nor the client is required to continue the relationship beyond the initial consultation.

The Lawyer Referral Service of the Mecklenburg County Bar is recognized by the State Bar of North Carolina and the American Bar Association (ABA) for meeting its standards.
