The Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice (AACJ) was formed in 1986. The AACJ started with just 40 criminal defense lawyers coming together to address the neglect criminal defendants and criminal defense lawyers received through the agency of the Arizona courts and legislature at the time.
Today the organization has grown to nearly 500 members composed of both private criminal defense attorneys and public defenders practicing law throughout the Grand Canyon State. The AACJ tackles matters like ensuring the rights of the accused in courts and legislature, promoting the criminal defense practice, and bringing public awareness to citizens' rights, the criminal justice system, and the role of the defense lawyer.
AACJ seeks to improve the practice of Arizona criminal defense lawyers and also serves as an advocate for positive criminal justice reform. AACJ is an affiliate of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyres (NACDL).
