AAJ Recognizes Member Achievements At 2020 Amped-Up Virtual Convention

Washington, DC — The following is a statement from American Association for Justice (AAJ) Immediate Past President Bruce Stern acknowledging the dedicated AAJ members who were recognized during the 2020 Annual Amped-Up virtual convention:
 
"These AAJ members have demonstrated their commitment to making an impact through their distinguished professional careers and by serving in their communities and helping those in need," said Stern. "Their leadership is inspiring to all of us who strive to make a difference in the world as trial lawyers."
 
Among the awards presented at the 2020 Amped-Up virtual convention :
Trial Lawyers Care Award Colleen M. Carboy of Carboy Law Firm was recognized as a trial lawyer and Registered Nurse who volunteered on the front lines of a New Jersey hospital at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hall of Fame Award Bo Mullis of Mullis Law Firm P.A. was recognized as an outstanding litigator for more than 40 years, a member of the United States Air Force, past president of the South Carolina Association for Justice, and AAJ Board member. This award is presented posthumously to an AAJ member whose career made a significant and positive impact on the civil justice system.
Lifetime Achievement Award Bob Clifford of Clifford Law Offices was recognized for his outstanding career as a trial lawyer where he continues to fight and hold corporations accountable. He has battled and repeatedly won large verdicts and settlements against powerful corporations on behalf of those wronged by corporate negligence and misbehavior.
Leonard M. Ring Champion of Justice Past AAJ President Barry Nace of Paulson & Nace, LLC was honored for his distinguished service in advancing AAJ’s mission and growth, and outstanding contributions to trial advocacy and the legal profession. For decades, Barry Nace has worked to protect the rights of victims of medical malpractice and other personal injuries.
Harry Philo Award Danielle Mason of Sanders Phillips Grossman, LLC was recognized for her work exposing the long-term deceit of manufacturers who marketed and sold products containing talc. As one of the country’s most successful talcum powder litigation attorneys, Danielle has secured significant verdicts against Johnson & Johnson for failing to warn about ovarian cancer risks.
Howard Twiggs Award Jerome O’Neill of Gravel & Shea, PC was recognized for his stellar professional career, including work representing over 80 survivors of childhood sexual abuse; and won jury cases as lead counsel against the Burlington Vermont Catholic Diocese. He has achieved significant verdicts and settlements against this defendant to help his clients.
