AAJ Statement on the February Departure of SEC Commissioner Rob Jackson

Washington, DC — The following is a statement from American Association for Justice (AAJ) CEO Linda Lipsen regarding Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Rob Jackson’s announcement that he will leave the SEC on February 14th  to return to teaching:

" A tireless champion for policies that empower consumers and promote growth, Commissioner Rob Jackson has served with distinction on the SEC. His experience, knowledge and dedication will be greatly missed when he leaves in a month.

"His willingness to stay past the expiration of his term is a testament to his commitment to protecting Americans from ongoing efforts by corporations and activists to dismantle their rights as consumers and shareholders. In particular, his strong leadership in opposition to the insidious practice of forced arbitration serves as an example for his successor and the rest of the Commission to follow.

"We thank him for his service and wish him well in his return to teaching law." ###

The American Association for Justice works to preserve the constitutional right to trial by jury and to make sure people have a fair chance to receive justice through the legal system when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others—even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations. Visit http://www.justice.org.
