AAJ Statement: Major Step Forward for Victims Seeking Justice for Child Sex Abuse

Washington, DC – The following is a statement from American Association for Justice CEO Linda Lipsen about the Maryland court that ruled that a state law removing the statute of limitations in child sex abuse cases is constitutional, allowing more survivors and families to seek justice:

"Empowering abuse survivors to pursue justice is always the right thing to do. This ruling is a major step forward for survivors of child sex abuse, many of whom are permanently scarred by the abuse they suffered and are still trying to find closure.

"Public accountability is critical – those seeking justice today are bringing their abusers to account, rebuilding their lives, and breaking the cycle of abuse to protect future generations. We applaud their courage and stand with survivors."
