AAJ Statement on the Passing of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor

Washington, DC —  The following is a statement from American Association for Justice President Sean Domnick on the passing of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor:

"AAJ recognizes the career and passing of Sandra Day O'Connor, a trailblazer and a legal icon. As the first woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court, Justice O'Connor shattered glass ceilings and paved the way for countless others to follow in her footsteps.

Beyond her legal legacy, Justice O'Connor's advocacy for civic education and her efforts to promote understanding of the judicial system have had a lasting impact on the American public. Her commitment to fostering a greater appreciation for the workings of our democracy speaks to her belief in an informed and engaged citizenry.

The American Association for Justice extends its deepest condolences to Justice O'Connor's family, friends, and colleagues."
