House Judiciary Committee Takes Crucial Step to Stop Corporations from Evading Responsibility by Exploiting the Bankruptcy Process

Washington, DC  — The following is a statement from American Association for Justice CEO Linda Lipsen after the U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary passed the Nondebtor Release Prohibition Act of 2021, H.R. 4777:
"J&J is a multinational corporation with billions of dollars in profits, yet is gaming the bankruptcy system to further destroy the lives of cancer patients that are sick from its toxic baby powder. The only bankrupt entity here is J&J’s morals, and they along with other corporations contemplating similar gimmicks must be stopped."
