Movement to End Forced Arbitration for Sexual Assault and Harassment Survivors Gains Significant Bipartisan Momentum

Washington, DC – The following is a statement from American Association for Justice CEO Linda Lipsen after the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault & Sexual Harassment Act, a bill ending forced arbitration for the survivors of sexual assault and harassment:
"We applaud the Senate Judiciary Committee for passing this bill with such strong bipartisan support. This moment belongs to the brave survivors for whom Congress must now act. Survivors deserve the right to choose for themselves how to seek justice and accountability under the law. Forced arbitration takes this right away – Congress must now give it back."
The bipartisan bill was introduced by Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC). Republican supporters include Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), John Kennedy (R-LA), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Josh Hawley (R-MO). Democratic supporters include Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Chris Coons (D-DE), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Jon Ossoff (D-GA).
