The North Dakota State Bar Association in Bismarck sponsors a Lawyer Referral Service. If you want to hire an attorney but don’t know who to call, then consider contacting the Lawyer Referral Service (LRS). The service makes referrals to attorneys statewide.

The LRS refers qualified and local attorneys to members of the public throughout the State of North Dakota in exchange for a nominal fee. You can trust the referral since it comes from a non-profit public service sponsored by the North Dakota Sate Bar Association.

The attorneys are pre-screened to ensure their good standing with the North Dakota State Bar Association, that the attorney has legal liability insurance and other eligibility requirements.

How the Lawyer Referral Program Works

The Lawyer Referral Service is located in Bismarck, N.D. The offices are opened from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Friday (except holidays).

When you call the service, a trained staff person will discuss your case with you to determine what kind of attorney you might need. The information you provide is held in strict confidence. When appropriate, the staff person will refer you to a local and qualified attorney for your particular type of legal problem.

You can then contact the attorney for a 30 minute consultation in exchange for paying a $30 consultation fee. During the consultation you can discuss your legal problem with the attorney, possible solutions, and the attorney fees required for additional representation.
