Contacting the Lawyer Referral Service in Lee County, Florida

The lawyer referral service is managed by the Lee County Bar Association charges a non-refundable $50 administrative fee. The fee is waived in personal injury or medical malpractice cases. The service will collect the administrative fee prior to making the referral to an attorney.

To make the referral, the service will give the person the name, address and phone number of the panel member. The person will be told to contact the panel member to arrange an appointment for the initial consultation.

The person will be instructed to tell the attorney's office that he or she was referred by the Lee County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service to schedule the 30-minute consultation at no additional charge.

During the consultation, the person can with the attorney about the legal concern and the attorney fees needed for additional representation. In some cases, referrals can be made to an attorney who speaks a foreign language or is willing to make a jail or hospital visit.

The attorneys are also screened to make sure the attorney maintains a physical office in Lee County and carries malpractice (E & O) insurance in the minimum amount of $100,000. The attorney must also pay an annual membership fee.
