The San Diego County Bar Association sponsors a non-profit Lawyer Referral Service. The service is certified by the State Bar of California and meets the standards of the American Bar Association. Since 1952, it has been helping individuals and businesses in San Diego find a qualified attorney. According to its website, in 2013, the service and its panel of attorneys helps more than 50,000 individuals.
With more than 500 attorneys participating in the Lawyer Referral and Information Service, the service can refer you to an attorney in one of more than 37 areas of law for any case throughout the greater San Diego-Carlsbad metropolitan area.
Before being allowed into the service, attorneys are pre-screened. The attorneys must provide letters of recommendation from a judge or fellow attorney, be in good standing with the California Bar, and carry malpractice insurance.
When you call the service you will be connected with trained bilingual counselor on staff with the San Diego County Bar Association. That counselor will provide you with a confidential intake interview to determine the type of legal issue involved. The counselor will provide you with the name and contact information for a qualified attorney that will provide a free 30 minute consultation.
