Founded in 1971, the San Francisco La Raza Lawyers Association (SFLRLA) has emerged as one of the oldest and most active Latino bar associations in the United States. The organizations serves as a resource for and advocates on behalf of the Latino legal community in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The organization provides support and networking opportunities to attorneys in San Francisco, CA, that support the local Latino legal community.
Each year the SFLRLA hosts a dinner called Noche de Gala. The dinner is a fundraiser for the Bay Area Latino Lawyers Fund. This 501(c)(3) organization provides scholarships to law students who intern at nonprofit organizations in the Bay Area.
The Northern California Region of the Hispanic National Bar Association and the San Francisco Law Raza Lawyers Association also created a Mentoring Program for local law school students.
By joining the various committees of the SFLRLA the members can become more active in the organization. The committees include the Judiciary Committee, the Mentorship Committee, the Scholarship Committee, the Social Committee and the Noche de Gala Committee.
