The Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (TACDL) was formed in 1973 to provide a unified and credible voice for those who defend people accused of criminal offenses. Today, the organization has more than 800 members engaged in defending those accused of crimes in state and federal court throughout Tennessee.
TACDL sponsors more than 80 hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars each year for Tennessee criminal defense lawyers. The organization employs a lobbyist to advocate for the positions of the organizations in front of the Tennessee legislature.
As an affiliate member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the TACDL provides training, education and networking opportunties to its members.
The benefits of belonging to the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (TACDL) include:
The Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (TACDL) publishes "For the Defense" a journal discussing recent appellate cases impacting the profession and article on criminal defense. TACDL also publishes "Weekly Writ" that updates members on news and events for the organization.
Lawyer Legion maintains a statewide directory of criminal defense lawyers in Tennessee which includes both TACDL members and non-members. To help the public find the best choices when searching for a criminal defense attorney, Lawyer Legion recognizes attorneys for their involvement and leadership within the TACDL and other professional associations. This includes recognition for TACDL past presidents and TACDL members who have updated their Lawyer Legion profile to include information about their involvement with the TACDL.
