The New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NYSACDL) was formed in 1986 by a group of New York defense attorneys. The formation of the NYSACDL brought upon a platform for discussing issues affecting the criminal defense practice in New York and assuring the protection of the individual rights and liberties for all.
The Amicus Curiae Committee, a committee of the NYSACDL is dedicated to filing amicus curiae briefs and federal cases against conditions that impede criminal defense work in cases. The committe lobbies with elected officials and local governments to better the administration of the criminal defense bar.
Membership in the NYSACDL is open to New York criminal defense lawyers and other legal professionals. Members of the NYSACDL receive access to training, resources, and networking seminars. The NYSACDL is an affiliate of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL).
