The Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (CCDLA) was founded in 1988.
Headquartered in Waterbury, Connecticut, CCDLA's membership includes more than 350 criminal defense attorneys from both private practices and the public defender's offices throughout the state of Connecticut.
CCDLA is the only statewide criminal defense lawyers’ organization in the State of Connecticut.

Benefits of Joining the CCDLA
The benefits of joining the CCDLA include:
- discounted rates at quality continuing legal education (CLE) seminars throughout the year;
- a listing in the organization's online directory and active e-mail list;
- the mentoring program; and
- networking opportunities including the annual meeting.
The criminal defense lawyers in Connecticut who have joined CCDLA are dedicated to defending persons accused of criminal acts in both state and federal court.
As an affiliate member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, CCDLA works to improve the criminal justice system by insuring that the individual rights guaranteed by the Connecticut Constitution and the United States Constitution are applied fairly and equally and that those rights are not diminished.
Membership in CCDLA
Applicants to the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (CCDLA) must be in good standing in the Connecticut Bar and engaged in the practice of criminal defense. Membership levels include:
- regular members;
- public defender members;
- new attorney members;
- law student members; and
- associate members.
