Established in 2004, the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers is dedicated to protecting, preserving and enhancing the civil justice system. The Academy’s full-time professional lobbyists provide a strong presence in the state legislature on a wide variety of issues impacting the civil justice system.
This non-profit organization works to rebuild and improve the image of the legal profession. The Academy's diverse membership base and strong grassroots network allow us to advocate on a wide array of legislative and political issues.
Members of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers (often called the NYS Academy of Trial Lawyers) include plaintiff and defense attorneys, judges, government employees, law professors, law clerks, law secretaries, paralegals, and law students.

$1,200 – Firm Membership (covers up to ten firm attorneys and paralegals)
$500 – Sustaining Membership
$250 – Attorneys Admitted for Five Years or More
$175 – Attorneys Admitted for Less than Five Years
$100 – Paralegals (with the subscribing attorney)
$100 – Non-Judicial Government Employees
$55 – Law Professors
Free – Members of the Judiciary, their Clerks and Law Secretaries
