Mission and History

The Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys (MATA) seeks to continually improve the safety of individuals and increase fair access to the Massachusetts justice system.

The organization was established in 1975, and today has grown to more than 700 members. MATA is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts. 

MATA provides important benefits of membership including reduced rates on CLE seminars and networking opportunities with some of Massachusetts top civil justice lawyers.

The Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers is a professional organization for Massachusetts personal injury lawyers and other attorneys seeking to improve their practice and the legal profession. MATA also seeks to improve the legal system, and advocates for access to justice and the right to a trial by jury.
