WASHINGTON, D.C.- The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) recognizes Allen Orr with the 2024 Advocacy Award for outstanding efforts in support of AILA’s advocacy agenda.
Those nominating Mr. Orr for this award noted his "numerous appearances on American media are a testament to his commitment to educating and navigating tough dialog and long overdue solutions that would help our economy, humanity, and the country." His ability to translate the complexities and intricacies of immigration law and policy into straightforward information helps begin thoughtful conversations rather than rhetorical battles. He has been able to create awareness of the struggle of Black immigrants and the untold stories of the African Diaspora and does not shy away from difficult topics or hostile environments. His ability to begin and continue thoughtful dialogue and educate others is described as crucial to AILA’s advocacy work.
Allen Orr is the founder of Orr Immigration Law Firm PC, a minority-owned law firm based in Washington, DC, that focuses on U.S. corporate compliance. He served as AILA National President from 2022 to 2023 and had a tremendous impact on the immigration bar.
Mr. Orr received the 2009 Joseph Minsky Young Lawyer Award for his contributions to immigration law, specifically his work with the New Member Division. He is also listed in The International Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers and The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers. Mr. Orr received a B.A. in Philosophy from Morehouse and a J.D. from Howard School of Law.
He is an active member of the DC, Virginia, and National Bar Associations. Mr. Orr has appeared on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), FOX News, Deustsche Welle (DW), Scripps News, MSNBC News, SiriusXM, and is a frequent national and international speaker on U.S. immigration and policy.
