AILA Executive Director Responds to Introduction of the Dignity Act of 2023

Washington, DC - In response to the introduction of the Dignity Act of 2023 by Representatives Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Maria Elvira Salazar (FL-27), AILA's Executive Director Benjamin Johnson stated, "The introduction of a comprehensive bipartisan bill that modernizes our immigration system is a heartening sign in this divided and ultra-partisan era. This is an important first step, a restart of the conversation that must happen in order for our country's immigration laws to meet the needs of a 21st century economy. AILA is pleased that these two leaders are tackling the issue of legalization -- a necessary and vital component of any immigration reform effort that has been left out due to the focus on the Southern border. AILA doesn't agree with everything in this bill but looks forward to working with these leaders to find a smart workable compromise."
