Atlanta Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service

For more than 50 years, the Atlanta Bar Association has sponsored a Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) that helps individuals or businesses find a qualified attorney in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area.

This community based non-profit organization plays an important role in helping the public find an attorney. In fact, the courts, government agencies, community organizations and other attorneys often refer people to the Atlanta Bar Association LRIS.

The LRIS is recognized by the American Bar Association for meeting its standards for a lawyer referral service.

Using the Lawyer Referral Service in Atlanta, GA

When you call the service a trained staff person will ask you some basic questions about your case to determine whether an attorney is needed and what type of attorney would be best for your case. You can either call the service or submit an Online Referral Request Form.

After submitting the form, a staff member will contact you to refer you to a qualified attorney. The staff can also consider your location and language needs when making the referral.

In exchange for a nominal consultation fee of $45 for certain types of cases, you can contact the attorney for a 30 minute consultation at no additional charge. During the consultation you can discuss the case with the attorney and the attorney fees needed for additional services.

The service pre-screens local attorney to make sure the attorney is in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia and maintains professional liability insurance.

Founded in 1888, the Atlanta Bar Association has grown to 6,000 members including attorneys and students from area law schools. The Atlanta Bar Association provides a variety of activities and programs including professional, social, financial, charitable and civic programs and services.
