The Bucks County Bar Association maintains a Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS). The LRIS helps individuals and businesses find an attorney in Doylestown and the surrounding areas throughout Bucks County, PA.

What Happens When You Call the Lawyer Referral Service in Doyestown, PA

When you call the service, a trained staff person will ask you a few questions to determine which type of attorney is needed. Attorneys that participate in the LRIS serve on various panels divided by practice area of the law.

The service will match you with an attorney on the appropriate panel who has expressed an interest in receiving a referral for that type of case. When a referral to an attorney is not needed, the LRIS will refer the caller to the appropriate county, government or consumer agency.

When you call the service you must pay a non-refundable $25.00 initial Consultation Fee. The fee is waived from cases Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, Worker’s Compensation, Product Liability, Car Accident/Plaintiff and Social Security Disability the initial consultation fee is waived.

After you receive the referral to the attorney, you can contact the attorney for a 30 minute consultation at no additional cost to you. During the consultation, you can discuss your case and the attorney fees needed for additional legal services.


Eligibility to Participate in the Lawyer Referral Service in Bucks County, PA

To participate in the program the attorney must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  • be licensed to practice law in the State of Pennsylvania;
  • actively practice law in Bucks County;
  • be a member of the Bucks County Bar Association;
  • have a primary office in Bucks County;
  • pay a fee to participate in the service; and
  • maintain a certain level of malpractice insurance.

Furthermore, the attorney must disclose whether within the past ten years, the attorney has been subject to public censure, reprimand or other form of public discipline by the Disciplinary Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The duty to disclose such an event continues throughout the time the attorney remains in the service.
