Lawyer Referral Service for San Joaquin County

The San Joaquin County Bar Association (SJCBA) sponsors a non-profit Lawyer Referral Service with offices in Stockton, CA. Since 1959, individuals and businesses have been using the Lawyer Referral Service to find an attorney throughout the greater Stockton-Lodi metropolitan area.

The Lawyer Referral Service is certified by the State Bar of California and meets the American Bar Association standards.

When you contact the program, the staff will talk with you about the case during an initial confidential interview to determine the type of legal issue involved in the case. The staff will give you a referral to an attorney for a fee of $30 which can be paid by cash, by check or by debit/credit card.

You can then contact that attorney for a free 30 minute consultation. The fee is waived for personal injury, medical malpractice, workers' compensation, wrongful termination, bankruptcy, Social Security law.

Attorneys in the program must apply, show sufficient experience in a particular practice area, and pay dues. After the attorney is approved, the Peer Review Panel will review the attorney every two years.
