According to the ABA 2019 National Lawyer Population Survey, Texas is the state with the third-highest number of resident active attorneys. The survey showed Texas, had 91,244 active lawyers living in the state.

Texas Bar College

The Texas Bar College recognizes Texas lawyers who attend at least double the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) required by the State Bar of Texas. The State Bar College issues annual awards, including the Steve Condos CLE Award for the most hours, the Franklin Jones CLE Article Award, and the Jim Bowmer Professionalism Award. Texas Board of Legal Specialization

The Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS) is the largest single-state certification program for lawyers in the United States. TBLS also has the greatest percentage of board-certified specialists in the United States. The Texas Board of Legal Specialization may also accredit organizations that are also accredited by the American Bar Association to certify attorneys as specialists.

Texas Bar's Roster of Bar Associations - Visit the website of the Texas Bar to find a roster of more than 100 bar associations. Each of the bar associations are encouraged to self-report information about their organization to the State Bar of Texas via email to atlocalbars@texasbar.com. By self-reporting, the Texas Bar is able to maintain an updated roster with the contact information for each legal organization. The various bar associations on the list include metropolitan, county, regional, specialty, minority, and statewide bar associations and legal organizations in Texas.
