Lawyer Referral Services in Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania Bar Association maintains a Lawyer Referral Service (LRS). The public service refers callers to lawyers in the counties in Pennsylvania that do not have their own lawyer referral service. The PBA LRS currently covers 45 of the 67 counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The service uses a computer program to select attorneys meeting certain criteria on a rotating basis depending on a variety of factors such as the county where the services are to be performed and the type of practice area of the law at issue.

Attorneys participate in the program on a voluntary basis after indicating the types of practice areas for which they area are willing to accept referrals.

When you call the service, you will talk with a trained staff person who will select the referral attorney. Then you are free to contact that attorney for an initial half-hour consultation that shall not exceed $30. Half of that amount will be returned to the PBA Lawyer Referral Service with the client referral form.
